About Us

Who We Are

Phoenix Services was founded by Nita Smith, who previously served as the administrator of a group home for individuals with brain injuries. When state funding was reduced and the group home could no longer meet the unique needs of its residents, it was forced to close.

Recognizing the critical gap in services, the state approached Nita with the idea of creating a charitable organization to support individuals affected by brain injury. Through her leadership and resourcefulness, Nita was able to help the former residents transition into their own apartments while still providing a few hours of daily support to meet their needs.

Over the years, Nita continued her advocacy efforts and played a key role in establishing the Brain Injury Fund of Utah. Her dedication laid the foundation for the resource facilitation services we are proud to offer today—empowering individuals with brain injuries to live independently and access the support and resources they need to thrive.
